Dr. Alanna Chomyn, MD, FRCPC

 

Allergist and Clinical Immunologist

 

Dr. Chomyn is excited to be joining Vancouver Pediatric and Allergy Centre in July 2021. As a Pediatric Allergist and Clinical Immunologist, her areas of interest include the diagnosis and management of inborn errors of immunity, food allergies, asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis, hives, insect allergies, and medication allergies in infants through young adults. Dr. Chomyn offers a full-service Pediatric Allergy and Immunology practice including performing food challenges, and providing immunotherapy for food, venom, and environmental allergies.

 

Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Dr. Chomyn completed medical school at the University of Alberta. She then went on to complete her residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of British Columbia, primarily based out of BC Children’s Hospital. 

 

When not at work, Dr. Chomyn enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and golden retriever, Hazel.

Dr. Elliot James, MD, FRCPC

 

Allergist and Clinical Immunologist

 

Dr. Elliot James is a Royal College certified pediatric allergist and clinical immunologist who accepts referrals for pediatric patients from all over British Columbia and the Yukon. Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, she completed her undergraduate medical degree and specialty training in Pediatrics at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed her subspecialty training in Allergy & Clinical Immunology at the University of British Columbia. 

 

Dr. James’ areas of interest include the diagnosis and management of food allergy, oral immunotherapy, eczema and inborn errors of immunity. She provides consultation for a diverse range of clinical presentations including food/environmental/drug/venom/vaccine allergy, eczema, asthma and urticaria (hives). Dr. James provides comprehensive allergy care to her patients including food challenges and immunotherapy for food, venom, and aeroallergens. She takes pride in providing the best possible care by getting to know her patients and their families and advocating for them. 

 

In addition to working at Vancouver Pediatric and Allergy Centre (VPAC), Dr. James works as a pediatric immunologist at BC Children’s Hospital in the Division of Immunology. 

 

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, the outdoors, sporting events and spending time with her husband and son.
